Aubrey Plaza gets emotional shoutout at Golden Globes after tragic death of husband Jeff Baena aged 47

HEARTBROKEN After her husband Jeff Baena passed away unexpectedly, Aubrey Plaza got a heartfelt greeting at the Golden Globes.

After Baena took his own life on Friday at the age of 47, award-winning director Brady Corbet delivered a heartfelt statement in support of his loved ones.

Plaza was supposed to assist in hosting the yearly celebration, but she was unable to do so because of her husband’s death.

The acting community has been in grief for the past several days after Baena made an impression on Hollywood with a number of popular films.

In his last remarks, fellow directing pro Corbet, 36, honored Baena while accepting his Best Director prize for the movie Brutalist.

It sent a unit “to a hanging” at the Los Feliz address, according to officials.

At 10.25 a.m., an aide discovered his death at the house the couple had purchased together in 2022.

At the scene, Baena was declared deceased.

“We responded to a death investigation and the case is being handled by the Coroner’s Office,” the Los Angeles Police Department informed The U.S. Sun.

The screenwriter’s death by hanging was confirmed by the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to US outlet Deadline, his family is “devastated” by the unexpected news and has requested seclusion.

After hearing the news, Baena’s distraught brother Bradt informed of his heartbreak.

Brad commented on an Instagram post made by Adam Pally, a friend of the Baena, saying, “I am broken.”

After ten years together, Baena and Plaza, who appeared in Parks and Recreation, got married over four years ago.

Prior to Plaza referring to Baena as her “darling husband” in a heartfelt Instagram post in 2021, they kept their engagement and marriage a secret.

In the post about their last time together, Plaza expressed how “proud” she was of him.

Baena grew up in Miami before moving to New York to attend a university’s film school.

After that, he began working as a filmmaker in Los Angeles before turning to writing.

He co-wrote the popular movie I Heart Huckabees in 2004 alongside Hollywood heavyweights Naomi Watts, Jude Law, and Jason Schwartzman.

Ten years later, he got his big break as a solo actor in the zombie movie Life After Beth, which starred comedic icon John C. Reilly and his future wife Plaza.

Prior to its A24 release, the movie was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

Plaza publicly commended her ex-boyfriend for assisting her in breaking into the TV and movie industries.

Throughout his career, Baena received multiple award nominations for his writing and directing abilities.

In 2016, he received a second nomination for the Grand Jury Prize for Joshy.

A year later, his film The Little Hours was nominated for the 2017 Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Audience Award.
