Austin Woman Arrested for ABUSE and NEGLECT of 8-Month-Old Infant

On Friday, a woman from Austin, Indiana was taken into custody and charged with abuse and neglect after the police reported that she was responsible for the injury of an infant who was eight months old.

Following the parents’ hasty decision to take their eight-month-old child to Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana, on May 30, the Indiana State Police initiated an inquiry over the matter.

In a press release, the spokesperson for the Internet Service Provider (ISP), Sgt. Carey Huls, stated that when they picked up the baby from daycare, they discovered a wound on the back of the baby’s head.

The baby was taken by helicopter to Norton Children’s Hospital, which is located in the central business district of Louisville. Once there, the physicians indicated that the infant suffered a fractured arm and a fractured head.

Lauren Salyers, who was running an illegal private daycare out of her house in Austin, was found to be the person responsible for the baby’s care, according to the information provided by ISP during the course of the inquiry.

Felony violence and felony neglect of a dependent are the charges that have been brought against Salyers. The Scott County Jail is where she is now being kept.
