DEBARYLIFE – In regards to the apparent murder-suicide that took place in Belmont on Tuesday, police have provided additional information.

According to the Belmont Police Department, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a man and a woman were discovered dead at the Chronicle Mill apartments on East Catawba Street.

Roseanne Hayes, 61, and Marshall Lee McRoberts, 60, are the two individuals who the investigators now believe were involved.

Both victims of fatal gunshot wounds, according to the inquiry, were identified.

The evidence gathered thus far, in the opinion of Police Chief Mary Thompson, indicates a murder-suicide. This appears to have been a tragic example of domestic abuse resulting in a murder-suicide based on our preliminary assessment.
