Avondale Incident: Child Struck by Car, Driver Leaves Scene
DEBARYLIFE – Cincinnati Police report that a hit-skip vehicle accident in Avondale on Sunday night resulted in the injury of a kid.
Just before 11 p.m., according to the police, officers were called to the 3900 block of Vine Street.
Police said that the car left the site.
The toddler was transferred to Children’s Hospital, according to the police, with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police at the scene reported that following the altercation, the car was last seen heading left onto Mitchell Avenue.
The 7-year-old girl, Emily Johnson, was crossing the street with her mother when a dark-colored SUV accelerated through the intersection, hitting Emily before the driver fled the scene, according to witnesses.
Emily was brought to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital right away, where her injuries are not life-threatening. Although her status is stabilized, she is still being closely monitored.
Following the crash, the SUV’s driver did not stop, and it was last seen traveling south on Reading Road.
