‘Big-Decision!’ Palm Beach Democratic Leader Resigns, Condemns Growing MAGA Presence
DEBARYLIFE – In deep red Palm Beach County, Florida, the Democratic Party chair announced her resignation on Wednesday, citing “vicious personal attacks” from party members.
Donald Trump, a Palm Beach resident, is known to have employed “MAGA tactics,” which Mindy Koch said she and her staff had been subjected to incessantly rude remarks from a “small minority” of Democratic Executive Committee members.
The state Democratic party restored Koch to the position only a few weeks before his resignation. Still, Koch decided to send a farewell letter to the statewide party chair and failed 2022 gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried, citing that reason alone as reason enough to abandon the campaign.
Effective immediately, I must resign from my position as Chair of the Palm Beach Democratic Party,” she wrote. Through this, I intend to expose this cancerous, subversive force that has documented ties to right-wing publications and is actively working to destroy the party from the inside.
According to Koch, a 70-year-old whose Facebook profile photo shows her cheesing with Joe Biden, party members’ harassment “made it impossible to fulfill our mission to elect Democrats.”

Koch asserted that to prevent Democrats from winning in Florida, which has taken a significant right turn under Governor Ron DeSantis’ direction after decades of being considered the most desirable swing state, her political opponents have sided with right-wing periodicals.
According to Koch, “The DEC has suffered financially from the ongoing internal struggles with those who wish to bring the party down, but I leave knowing that the clean audit validates my leadership.”
With just one vote, Koch emerged victorious as chair in 2022, but she has since been mired in internal party strife. Part of “an overall strategy to get our local parties back on track” includes her suspension in March, along with the suspensions of two other local Democratic leaders in Florida.
The Democratic committeewoman from Palm Beach, Maria Cole, who lost to Koch by that one vote, refuted Koch’s vehement assertions this week in an interview with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Her statement suggested that Koch wasn’t providing the whole truth, even if she denied the presence of any toxic elements in the party.
She said to the Sentinel, “There isn’t some evil organization trying to destroy her.” People don’t have a mindset akin to that of Trump. It has nothing to do with personality. This isn’t meant to be offensive.

Though Koch has resigned with immediate effect, it doesn’t seem like it’s ready to completely give up on politics. Her candidacy for the Palm Beach County School Board was declared on Thursday.
The Sentinel was informed by her that she believes she can “make a difference” there and that she has an answer for Florida’s ongoing book bans under DeSantis. She suggested that parents form a book club where members read books cover to cover before deciding whether or not to remove them from libraries.
Koch has a doctorate in leadership and curriculum, a master’s degree in gifted student education, a bachelor’s degree in special education, and experience as a teacher in Palm Beach and Broward counties, according to the Sentinel.
Her statement to the newspaper was, “I’ve always wanted to be on the School Board.” “I would love to share all of my education experience with you.”
