Big Dispute In ‘New Apple!’ Man Shot On NYC Subway While Attempting To Stop Fight Between Couple

After attempting to mediate a fight between a couple, a stranger on an uptown 4 train on the Upper East Side was shot and injured early on Sunday, according to law enforcement sources.

Police told The Post that the 31-year-old man was struck in the left hand by a bullet while riding the train at East 86th Street and Lexington Avenue on Sunday at 2:30 a.m.

According to police sources, the victim intervened during a disagreement between the suspect and his girlfriend aboard the train. After a brief physical altercation, the suspect produced a gun and discharged one bullet.

After firing, the suspect, according to the police, immediately left the site. He hasn’t been identified or apprehended.

Because they both commute by train from the Bronx, two employees of the Krispy Kreme located near to the train station where the shooting took place expressed their fear upon learning of the violence.

Maylene Sanchez, 33, reported that the subway was still delayed following the incident on Sunday morning, forcing her to take a $20 Uber into Manhattan.

Sanchez, who is eight months pregnant and trying to save as much money as she can for the baby, said, “I wasted $20 on a damn Uber.” It’s awful. It’s unfair that opening the store required me to invest $20.

Both employees bemoaned the fact that despite the MTA raising train fares, they were still forced to deal with “craziness.”

Sanchez remarked, “It seems like the more expensive something is, the riskier it is.” Furthermore, it is unaffected by the time of day. It’s always absurd.

Her 21-year-old coworker, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that early on Sunday morning, many police officers entered the shop to purchase doughnuts but made no mention of the incident.

She remarked, “We were curious as to why five police officers showed up this morning to buy donuts.” “I believe they ought to have made a statement.”

Given how many police officers are usually present at the station, both women expressed surprise upon learning that there had been a shooting.

“There are cops in that station all the time. The 21-year-old stated, “They should focus more.” “The homeless people need to be taken off the trains.” The train costs us almost three dollars.

It’s frightful. It is a city where we are. I’m astonished since we’re not in a ghetto,” Sanchez continued.

At least five NYPD policemen were posted at the subway exits for the North and South trains on Sunday morning, though it was unclear if any police officers were at the station when the shooting occurred.

According to the MTA, the local rail line is now closed for planned maintenance.

The victim’s condition was stable when EMS transported him to Cornell Hospital.

His identity is still unknown.

The NYPD is still looking into this.
