Bill Belichick played his cards just right after Atlanta Falcons snub – he’ll have a choice of NFL teams to coach
Bill Belichick is well-positioned to make a comeback to the NFL the following season.
Belichick may have a plethora of clubs to select from this offseason after being passed over for a coaching position after leaving the New England Patriots.
This season, two NFL head coaches have already been fired: Robert Saleh of the New York Jets and Dennis Allen of the New Orleans Saints.
Both of those dismissals occurred in the middle of the season, but there will probably be many more before the season ends and the offseason begins.
Adam Schefter of ESPN predicts that this offseason will see head coaching openings at least seven teams.
“When I look ahead into this season, there will be no less than seven [firings],”Schefter remarked.

“I would say the realistic range is seven to nine, and it is probably closer to the over than the under.”
Even though there are now two open positions, several teams are anticipated to make changes this summer.
This season, these head coaches may face termination:
- Antonio Pierce – Las Vegas Raiders
- Doug Pederson – Jacksonville Jaguars
- Mike McCarthy – Dallas Cowboys
- Matt Eberflus – Chicago Bears
- Zac Taylor – Cincinnati Bengals
- Kevin Stefanski – Cleveland Browns
Belichick will be in a great position to return to coaching in the NFL in 2025, as seven to ten positions may become vacant.
By being active in the NFL this season, he has ideally set himself up for a comeback.
NFL teams are constantly reminded by his appearances on Monday Night Football and The Pat McAfee Show that one of the greatest coaches in history is a free agency.
By the time the offseason arrives, Belichick should have his pick of a position, but there are many other qualified applicants throughout the league.
The Cowboys have long been mentioned as a possible destination for the future Hall of Famer.
A separate team, though, might make an offer this summer for both the general manager and head coach positions.
Belichick is supposedly the Jaguars’ top choice if they decide to dismiss Pederson at some time this season or during the summer.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic asserts that Belichick should consider the Jaguars as a potential destination.
“As we wait to find out what the Jaguars do next, keep in mind Bill Belichick wants to be a head coach again and the Jaguars should be viewed as a potential destination,”she reported.
“I m told it s highly unlikely that a partnership with GM Trent Baalke would take place, per sources.”
Given how close Belichick is to the all-time coaching wins record, it seems quite unlikely that he will never coach again.

With 328 career victories, the record is held by the legendary Don Shula of the Miami Dolphins. With 302 career victories, Belichick is right behind him.
In order to break that record, Belichick is probably going to rejoin the NFL in 2025.
