Bingham Farms fire claims life of woman beloved by community
Following the terrible death of one of their neighbors in a holiday fire at a home, the close-knit community of Bingham Farms in Oakland County was left in shock.
(FOX 2) BINGHAM FARMS, MIFollowing the terrible death of one of their neighbors in a holiday fire at a home, the close-knit community of Bingham Farms in Oakland County was left in shock.
When their house on Coachlight Lane, close to Old Stage Road, caught fire on December 21 at around one in the morning, her husband was also seriously hurt.
It is known that Larissa Nikoriak was a devoted neighbor who frequently displayed her artistic side. Some of her closest neighbors were even able to view her artwork from their windows.
“I’m just heartbroken. Janet McCafferty replied, “I mean, and horrified.”
When she and her husband Tim woke up, they saw flames leaking throughout the house and orange hues flickering outside their bedroom window.
Vlad, her husband, had attempted, but failed, to save his wife. He is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit after suffering burns.
“It was just really tough not knowing and then we found out from one of the neighbors that Vlad had made it out but he was very burned,” stated Tim McCafferty.
The cause is still unknown, according to fire officials at Franklin-Birmingham Farms.
They received help battling the fires in Bloomfield Hills, Farmington Hills, and Southfield. They have been participating in the community’s challenges since the tragedy a few days ago.

They are the ideal neighbors to have across the street, according to Dave Coley, another neighbor.
“The night of the fire, the streets were lined with concerned neighbors, so we all came together,” he stated. “Immediately, folks started reaching out to the daughters through Facebook Messenger, and of course the gofundme has really taken off.”
Tens of thousands of dollars have been gathered to support the family through a gofundme that has taken off.
