Black Myth: Wukong director reveals the real reason why the blockbuster skipped Xbox
BLACK Myth: Despite not being available on Xbox at launch, Wukong was one of the best-selling games of the previous year.
Game Science’s first big game received two honors at the Game honors—Best Action/Adventure Game and the Players Voice Award—out of five nominations.
Although no release date has been specified, Game Science announced that Black Myth: Wukong would ultimately be available for the Xbox Series X|S.
According to Microsoft, developers are required to make sure that Xbox games are compatible with both the less powerful Xbox Series S and the more powerful Xbox Series X.
Without an Xbox Series S version, developers are not permitted to release games on the Xbox Series X.
This has caused some Xbox game releases to be delayed, most notably Baldur’s Gate 3, which ultimately eliminated the split-screen cooperative mode on the Series S.

Although Game Science hadn’t stated it directly, it was assumed that the Xbox Series S’s simultaneous release was the cause of the delay.
That is, until Feng Ji, the CEO of Game Science and producer of Black Myth: Wukong, used the Chinese social media site Weibo to justify the hold-up.
According to Feng, the team has had difficulty optimizing the game for the Xbox Series S, and the delay is due to the hardware.
He claims that Xbox is the only item missing, which seems odd.
However, without years of optimization skill, it is quite difficult to get the 10GB of shared memory to function.
The Xbox Series X has 16GB of system memory, while the Series S only has 10.
Feng has refuted the earlier rumors that Game Science had inked a platform exclusive agreement with PlayStation.
Despite not having a release date, Game Science says it is still working on an Xbox version of its popular game.
