Boxer Mikaela Lauren, 48, left unrecognisable after horrific beating by world champion 15 years her junior
BOXER Mikaela Lauren suffered terrible swelling in her most recent battle, leaving her utterly unrecognizable.
Late this month, WBC welterweight champion Michaela Kotaskova severely outclassed the Swedish slugger.
In a lopsided decision victory, Czech clubber Kotaskova dominated the 48-year-old for ten rounds in a row to keep her title.
Lauren was wounded, beaten, and a shell of herself when she left the ring.
In the hours following the one-sided beating, the Swedish slugger’s shiners were almost closed when she exited the ring.
Lauren’s 80,000 Instagram followers saw a number of her post-fight photos and videos.

In one of the recordings, she removed her spectacles and laughed at the fact that her eyes were swollen shut, revealing the extent of her injuries.
Lauren reports that multiple unintentional head collisions caused a crack in her skull, which caused the edema.
“I have been a little quiet on my part as I have needed some time to heal myself and reflect on everything,” she wrote in the caption that went with the photo.
“I want to start by thanking @michaela.kotaskova and @boxteambounce for the opportunity and congratulating them.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t go all the way this time. You win some, you lose some.
“I demonstrated that I belonged at the top even though I didn’t get my boxing to 100%.
“Despite all of the unintentional “scalding” (head collisions) that led to my cracking my head first and then developing a HUGE swelling on my forehead and eyebrows that interfered and clouded my eyesight, I’m very satisfied that I fought so hard in all ten rounds.
“The hematoma (swelling/blood collection) from the “scaldings” in the forehead spread across my eyes the night after the game, getting so big that it obstructed my vision entirely.
“I was unable to open my eyes and see because of it. Like a blind person, he needed to be led around.
Concerns about Lauren’s injuries nearly prevented her from taking a plane home.
She went on: “I was not permitted to continue flying after our stopover in Zurich without a medical certificate (competition doctors had examined me but left no certificate).”
“After that, my head coach Alex and I had to stay at the hospital and get an X-ray, which thankfully revealed that everything appeared to be in order.
“I wasn’t very concerned because I didn’t have a headache or nausea, but it was still helpful to double-check everything and take precautions.
“We had to have another layover before we eventually landed at Arlanda 22 hours after leaving the hotel since all of the airlines home were then completely packed.

“Fortunately, the swelling has somewhat decreased and I can now open my eyes normally, but I can say that I’ve never looked more beautiful.”
“However, it looks worse than it is, and now I just need to rest and spend time with family.”
