(FOX 2):After identifying a Brighton man as a suspect in a tragic hit-and-run on Monday morning, state police took him into custody.
According to Michigan State Police on social media, the suspect hit a 22-year-old Howell resident while he was riding his bike home from work.
After someone in the vicinity noticed the crash scene, troopers from MSP’s Brighton Post were dispatched to the Old US-23 Highway close to Bergin Road. They were sent to the location at approximately 1:40 a.m.
According to state police, the guy died after being hit while riding his bike home from his night duty. No witnesses were present.
Instead, authorities used auto parts found at the scene to create a suspect vehicle. After collaborating with the local Hamburg Township police and the Livingston County sheriff, law enforcement finally determined that the motorist was a 63-year-old man.
He allegedly hit the victim while driving a 2013 Ford F-150.
The individual was eventually taken into jail by the police. Whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision is unknown.
The police visit on Friday initially stunned the locals, then made them happy. However, as seen by this close-knit community, shared joy transcends the changing of the seasons.
