Brit, 60, dies after being swept out to sea by huge waves with two other swimmers at Tenerife tourist hotspot

In Tenerife, a British visitor perished after being pushed into the ocean by a wave.

The 60-year-old vacationer was one of three individuals who encountered issues in the Los Gigantes natural pool.

Firefighters and rescue helicopters were among the emergency personnel who hurried to the scene.

After being discovered face-down in the ocean, a man was flown to a neighboring football field.

He went into cardiac arrest and was not able to be saved despite the best efforts to resuscitate him.

The other two individuals, both women, who were swept into the sea, made it to safety on their own.

One was treated for a panic attack, while the other was sent to a health center with minor injuries.

It is unclear what the survivors’ nationality were and whether they were friends or family of the deceased individual.

Police have yet to comment.

The catastrophe happened yesterday just before noon at the Los Gigantes natural pool, also called Crab Island Pool on the west side of the island, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide.

Online travel sites caution travelers not to enter the pool when the waves are high because they can wash back, even if a concrete wall protects swimmers.

Because of the high surf and large waves this week, local authorities have been warning residents of the Canary Islands to exercise caution when they are near the water.

Three people who were having trouble in the sea in Tenerife were rescued by emergency personnel, according to a spokesperson for a regional government-run emergency response coordination center.

A sixty-year-old man passed away. He was transferred to a neighboring football field after being rescued by helicopter after being discovered face down in the sea.

When the helicopter landed, it was verified that he was still in cardiac arrest, and attempts to save his life were fruitless.

Initially, a 50-year-old woman was sent to a local health facility. Her lower limbs sustained slight injury.

She was able to escape the water on her own, as was another woman who was having a panic attack but didn’t require hospitalization.
