Brit tourist, 43, fighting for life after being punched in the head by bouncer at Benidorm bar while on hols with pals

Nine days after getting engaged, a Brit vacationer is now fighting for his life after being struck in the head by a bouncer.

Just over a week after popping the question to longtime partner Carrie Howard, 43-year-old Andrew Frazer was allegedly floored by a doorman in a “unprovoked” attack while on a boys’ vacation at the renowned Costa Blanca resort.

To reduce brain swelling, the father of two from St Helens, Merseyside, had to have a portion of his skull removed.

His injuries were too severe for a medical flight, so he returned to the UK after a torturous 27-hour journey in the back of a private ambulance. According to his family, the entire amount of the damage he sustained is still being evaluated.

It was revealed today that a 42-year-old Romanian man had been taken into custody in connection with the early-morning incident that occurred on November 14 outside a pub in the well-known Little England neighborhood of Benidorm.

Last Monday, the unidentified person was detained on suspicion of injuring.

After he appeared before a judge in a private court hearing and denied being the individual who assaulted Mr. Frazer, he was freed on bail pending an ongoing criminal investigation.

Roberto Sanchez Martinez, who defended the five British males detained when newlywed Scot Kirsty Maxwell dropped to her death on April 29, 2017, following a night out with friends in Benidorm, is his attorney.

Judges decided in July 2020 that there was no solid evidence of criminality and nothing to suggest the 27-year-old had not jumped to her death, clearing the British, who had been named homicide suspects in the wake of that tragedy, of any wrongdoing.

Ian, Mr. Frazer’s brother, who works as a ramp agent for DHL at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, reported the assault to the police.

Sister-in-law According to Claire Howard, after receiving initial hospital treatment without a CT scan, he was discharged back to his hotel. The next day, when his health worsened and a scan showed a significant brain bleed, he was sent to another hospital.

He was put in an induced coma and had an emergency craniotomy, a surgical operation that involves removing a portion of the skull to access the brain.

More than 30,000 pounds has been gathered by a GoFundMe account that was established following the incident to assist in paying for his return to the UK last Thursday, November 28, as he lacked travel insurance.

Ian, one of six men who flew to Benidorm just before the attack to attend the biggest fancy dress party in Europe, told Mail Online following the attack: We took some of the guys to a few different locations because they hadn’t been to Benidorm before, and ended up in this bar.

Our departure time was approximately 1:30 a.m. We were following Andrew out of the road, where he was waiting for us.

This bouncer was standing in front of him, in his face, and he was on the sidewalk’s kerb edge.

This guy just assaulted my brother and knocked him out while he was glancing over his shoulder to check when we were leaving.

He was unconscious and slid backward, hitting his head on the road. Reaching over, I held his head.

While passing by with her spouse, a British nurse hurried to assist and held his head up. She stayed with us after being appalled by what had transpired.

Last Monday, friends and relatives posted an update on the GoFundMe appeal website, stating that 32,841 of the 35,000 goal had already been raised:

Hello everyone, I would want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed thus far.

We are very grateful for your amazing assistance in helping us earn enough money to return him home safely. Having said that, since the full amount of the damage is still unknown, Andy’s terrible injury is probably going to require long-term recovery.
