Brits tell Starmer to stand by Ukraine even if Trump waters down support

According to a poll, Prime Minister Keir Starmer must defend Ukraine even if Donald Trump softens US backing.

Britain does not want to support a peace agreement that is detrimental to Volodymyr Zelensky’s country; instead, they want to see Vladimir Putin’s Russia defeated.

There are concerns that President-elect Trump may stop providing Ukraine with military assistance.

He hopes to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine in a day, although this may need pressure on Volodymyr Zelensky to cede land.

Additionally, the British lack faith in The Don’s capacity to manage the war in Ukraine.

According to a poll conducted by the think tank More in Common, 41% of respondents are concerned that a deal signed by Trump will probably favor Russia more.

Only 13% believe Ukraine would gain more, and only 19% believe both will benefit equally.

People in Britain tend to believe that if Mr. Trump negotiates a deal that Ukraine rejects, the UK should also reject the deal.

However, a survey conducted this week to mark the 1,000th day of the war reveals that British support for Ukraine is still unwavering.

According to 69% of respondents, it is crucial for the UK that Mr. Zelensky defeats Putin’s invasion. Only 9% claim that it isn’t.

Ben Wallace, a former defense secretary, stated: The prime minister cannot capitalize on the widespread, robust support for Ukraine.

He and Rachel Reeves need to support our efforts and adequately fund the modernization of our own armed forces.

I implore him to take the lead for the sake of our collective security because the people of the UK, Europe, and Ukraine all want him to.

Nearly half of the 2,000 persons surveyed said that we had either spent too much or too little on military aid, indicating widespread support for giving Ukraine British weapons.

For the first time this week, Ukraine launched Storm Shadow missiles, provided by the UK, at Russia.

Additionally, 48% of British people believe that Ukraine should have the freedom to choose how to utilize the weapons we have given them.

The majority want the UK to support Ukraine until they regain the land they had before the invasion began.

More than 1,000 days into the conflict, Britons are still steadfast in their support of Ukraine and believe that defeating Putin is important, according to Luke Tryl, UK Director of More in Common.

They are also adamant that the UK must continue to help the invading nation and that Keir Starmer should not accept a US-negotiated peace agreement that is detrimental to Ukraine.
