Caitlin Clark ‘proves she is mortal’ as WNBA star almost takes out fan on tee box in scary near-miss

CAITLIN CLARK has “proved she is mortal” after almost taking out a fan at the Annika Women’s Leadership Summit.

The WNBA star was playing in the Pro-Am alongside Annika Sorenstam and Nelly Korda.

Clark, 22, has insisted before the tournament that her only aim would be not to “hit anyone with a golf ball”.

However, she almost failed her priority as she skewed a drive at the crowd that gathered to watch her.

The ball came off the bottom of her club and flew to the fans on her left side and just evaded their heads.

Clark was immediately apologetic as she could be heard saying “sorry” from the tee.

It was Clark’s second appearance in a Pro-Am this year and is a huge fan of the sport.

She said: “I can get in the mid-80s, if I’m lucky, but usually I’m just praying to break 100.

“I’ve tried to take as much time as I can to practice, but there is only so much hope. You just cross your fingers, pray.

“I’ve tried to practice as much as I can. I’m just the average golfer. I’m going to hit some good, I’m going to hit some bad.

“It is what it is. I’m strong, and I can hit it. It just doesn’t usually go straight. I mean sometimes it goes straight, but it depends.

“You just step up there and you hope for the best.”

Meanwhile, Clark was recently heralded as the Michael Jordan of the NBA.

ESPN broadcaster Mike Breen claimed that her impact on the WNBA is comparable to Jordan’s in the NBA.

She is also currently considering a huge offer that could come as a massive blow to the league.
