What You Must Understand
– Beginning on Saturday, June 1, the sales tax holiday for disaster preparedness will last for two weeks.
-There will be another sales tax break in August.
-Leaders in Central Florida are advising citizens to be ready for this situation and to start gathering supplies ahead of time.
In anticipation of more customers stocking up before the sales tax holiday starts, employees at J & L Hardware in Orange County are keeping busy by placing more orders and selling what they already have.
Store owner Larry Finley stated, “Tape is going to be important, just in case your window breaks and something comes through.” “I strongly advise the weatherproof type duct tape, something of that nature, they can really hold and withstand extreme weather conditions.”
Having a plan provides advantages, according to Finley.
He said, “You won’t have any second thoughts if you’re prepared now.”
Leaders in Flagler County are also pushing for readiness.
Director of Flagler County Emergency Management Jonathan Lord stated, “The next thing that happens is a lot of those critical supplies like nonperishable food and bottled water, batteries, even things like tarps and sandbags, they all vanish in the days right before an approaching storm.”
