Christmas market AXED 2 days after it opened with punters slamming plastic ice rink and ‘dreadful’ Michael Buble tribute
Two days after opening, a CHRISTMAS market was canceled because to complaints from patrons over the “dreadful” Michael Buble performance and the fake ice rink.
Despite being scheduled to last for three weeks, the joyous event was cancelled after its first weekend, drawing comparisons to the notoriously unsatisfactory Willy Wonka experience.
The event in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, was canceled owing to “weather conditions,” according to the organizers, but customers had already started asking for refunds.
Mother of two Along with a friend who brought her children, ages one and six, Amanda Wilby brought her sons, ages two and five, to the festival.
The entire event was terrible, according to her, who spent $15 on tickets for four people: “We chose not to enter the Santa’s Grotto since it resembled an abandoned train car.
“The reindeers looked extremely sad and uncomfortable having such a small enclosure that wasn’t big enough for them to walk around.”
Amanda’s son asked, “Mummy, where are all the rides?” after she only saw one coaster that “didn’t look safe.”
After her boys finished their projects, which took fifteen minutes, the family chose to depart because there “wasn’t anything else” to keep the kids occupied.
She continued: “I felt really sorry for the food vendors that were literally stood around doing nothing as it seemed everyone that was arriving was also leaving.”
Amanda claimed that the Willy Wonka disaster, which went viral, was fairly depicted after learning about it.
Based on a children’s book by Roald Dahl, the disastrous event promised a “stunning” experience in February, but it was so ill-planned that patrons ended up phoning the police.
After complaining about the lackluster festival, Amanda asked the organizers of the St. Bury fair for a refund, but she hasn’t heard back yet.
The event was criticized by other participants for being entirely different from what was described.
Posters that appeared to have been created by artificial intelligence touted a “magical” Santa’s grotto, “thrilling” fairground rides, and a “enchanting” ice-skating rink.
It also featured a Michael Buble tribute act and meet-and-greets with imaginary characters.
Mother of three Carly Petts was utterly underwhelmed during her visit with her spouse.
“On the advertisement, it said rides, but there was only a small Ferris Wheel,” she added.
“Christmas trees without any decorations were positioned at random.
“Just nothing to do and so underwhelming and not festive.”
Carly expressed her disappointment by saying that she and her children, who are two, nine, and thirteen years old, “wished they had stayed at home.”
Customers have left harsh reviews for the disastrous event, which has since earned a 1.3-star rating on Google.
One said: “I personally will not be wasting my time and parking money on this again.”
“What a load of rubbish,” said another. Don’t leave. What a waste of a day.
“To enable me to post this review, I have had to give it a star – it isn’t even worth 1 star.”
“A one and a half-hour trip for a 20-minute walk and some luke-warm ‘hot cider,” what a shame,” said a third.
Dan Prescott, who paid twenty-four dollars to attend the festival with his father, wife, and two kids, claimed that even his five-year-old daughter understood it was garbage when they tried the ice rink.
Craig Germeney, the chairperson of the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, called the incident a “real shame.”
The club had previously collaborated with the event managers and had never encountered any problems.
He claimed that by calling off the event, the organizers had made the right decision.

Lucy Roper-Liggett, a festival performer who can portray a princess, was contracted to perform at the fair five times during the Christmas season.
According to Lucy’s Princess Parties’ owner, she was “gutted” and is considering giving away a show to children who requested to see the princess and to parents who were unable to receive a refund.
