Conor McGregor DID sexually assault woman who accused him of rape in Dublin hotel, jury in civil case rules

Conor McGregor was found guilty of sexually assaulting Nikita Hand by a CIVIL case jury.

But according to the jury, she was not assaulted by his friend James Lawrence.

When the jury returned its verdict after six hours and ten minutes of deliberation, they awarded Ms. Hand 248,603.60 in damages.

When the four-member, eight-woman jury returned with their verdict, McGregors shook his head.

Partner Dee Devlin joined him today, and the two were spotted walking hand in hand into the High Court.

McGregor was accompanied in the courtroom by his mother Margaret, sister Aoife, and father Tony.

Mr. Justice Alex Owens finished his two-day charge to the jury yesterday.

After hearing evidence for eight days, the panel resumed its deliberations this morning.

Following a Christmas night out, Ms. Hand, 35, accused mixed martial arts fighter McGregor of a vicious rape.

Due to the alleged rape in a Dublin hotel penthouse in December 2018, the former hair colorist filed a civil damages lawsuit against the 36-year-old athlete.

Both co-defendant James Lawrence and McGregor, who testified that he had consensual intercourse with Ms. Hand, rejected all of the accusations.

After the judge’s closing remarks, the jury in the High Court trial was sent out for deliberate at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The plaintiff had the burden of proof, according to Mr. Justice Owens, who informed the jury that the standard of proof is the balance of probabilities.

The jurors were instructed by the court to “look at all the evidence.”

Judge Owens informed jurors that in addition to a general judgment of compensation, they would have the option of imposing aggravated and punitive damages if they determined that McGregor had assaulted Ms. Hand.

The jury was sent home for the evening around 4 p.m. on Thursday after deliberate for about an hour.

Last night, the jurors was warned by the judge not to talk about their decisions with anyone, even their loved ones, who must be “madly interested in all of this.”

Just after ten in the morning today, the jury returned to their deliberations.

Eight women and four men made up the jury, and they were given an issue paper with several questions on it.

KEY QUESTION

“Did Conor McGregor assault Nikita Hand?” was the first question.

The judge declared that the case against Mr. McGregor would be dismissed if they did not respond to this query.

However, if they said “yes,” they would next think about damages.

Ms. Hand has filed a lawsuit against Mr. McGregor and Mr. Lawrence, claiming that six years ago, the two “brutally raped and battered” her in a hotel penthouse.

The mother of one, who lives in Drimnagh, Dublin, said that on December 9, 2018, during an after-party fueled by cocaine and drink, they both sexually assaulted her in the Beacon Hotel in Dublin.

CONSENSUAL CLAIM

Both said the sex was consensual and refuted her accusation.

Justice Owens completed summarizing Mr. McGregor’s evidence yesterday before the jury was sent out to start deliberating its verdict.

Ms. Hand’s claim that he raped her was characterized as “lies” by Mr. McGregor.

“She had oral sex with me,” he continued. We started removing our clothing. We went to the bed in the bedroom while we were both nude.

“We started having completely consenting sex. The missionary job was where it all started.

McGregor described the sexual encounter as “enthusiastic and athletic” in court.

PHOTO EVIDENCE

Pictures of the complainant’s body injuries taken in the days following the alleged assault were provided to the cage fighter.

Mr. McGregor denied creating the injuries during cross-examination by Ms. Hand’s attorney, John Gordon, stating that they “possibly came from her diving into the bath.”

However, Mr. Gordon brought up the medical evidence regarding Ms. Hand’s severe bruising with the jury.

Additionally, Ms. Hand’s attorney brought attention to the fact that she had to have a tampon taken out of her using forceps when she went to the hospital following the alleged rape.

Ms. Hand testified that she was on her period and using a tampon when Mr. McGregor sexually assaulted her in the hotel room.

Evidence was presented before the jury that a doctor had to use forceps to remove a tampon that the plaintiff had worn that evening.

‘NEW VERSION OF EVENTS’

According to Mr. Gordon, it was “obvious” that Mr. McGregor “thought the tampon was going to be a problem” as the case got closer, which is why he stated in the evidence that Ms. Hand had not had a tampon.

Mr. Gordon claimed that because Mr. McGregor did not mention this to his legal team, his and Mr. Lawrence’s assertion that there was no tampon was never presented to Ms. Hand in court.

“It was a completely different version of events,” Mr. Gordon stated. He keeps saying that my client is dishonest, but in this case, the dishonesty is Mr. McGregor, who lacks the guts and decency to admit his wrongdoing.

Mr. Gordon added, “To put it this way: somebody did it,” in reference to the bruises on Ms. Hand’s body. The Beacon Hotel is where it took place. Mr. McGregor was the one.
