Costco members stunned after spotting rack of meat in freezer – but it’s more common than people think

Recently, some Costco shoppers were taken aback when they noticed a particular kind of meat in the freezer at their neighborhood stores.

It’s no secret that the warehouse retailer sells a large selection of fresh food that customers may buy online or in-store.

With a variety of alternatives they can purchase in bulk, including Northwest Fish Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Fillets and Japanese Wagyu Center Cut New York Strip Steaks, the meat and seafood section is a member favorite.

During a recent visit to Costco, a member discovered a meat in the freezer department that they had never seen before, despite the fact that the selection may appear unlimited.

They took a photo of a whole halal lamb wrapped and dangling on a hook with a few more next to other freezer goods.

The member posted incredulously on Reddite earlier this month, “I discovered this frozen halal lamb today at a Costco I’ve never been to before.”

“Have never seen this before at any other Costco I’ve been to.”

The member went on to say that the halal lamb was imported from New Zealand and only cost $3.99 per pound, according to the package.

Another customer, at least, was as shocked.

Another consumer wrote, “I’m surprised they sell enough of this to justify stocking it,” in the thread.

RARITY DEBUNKED

Others, however, pointed out that it wasn’t all that unusual and that the halal lamb has been available at their neighborhood Costco for a while.

BUSINESS BONUS

Others asserted that rather than Costco’s usual retail warehouses, the frozen halal lamb was mostly sold at Costco Business Centers.

Costco Business Centers offer goods selections tailored to restaurants and small companies, frequently in even greater quantities.

Redditor “We have them at the business center in Illinois,” they stated.

Another person remarked, “This is a regular item at Costco business centers,”

This is supported by a listing on Costco’s Business Center website, where the New Zealand Halal Lamb Carcass is quoted as 25 to 35 pounds.

This indicates that, at the advertised price of $3.99 per pound, the item would cost between $99.75 and $139.65.

TREAT TAKEOVER

Over the past several months, Costco has also been preparing its food and beverage offerings for the holiday season.
