Cotton Bowl postponement latest with statement released over fears severe blizzards may see Texas-Ohio State called off
The Cotton Bowl has released a statement regarding the outcome of Texas vs. Ohio State’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal on Friday.
A winter storm is predicted to hit Texas, which might have an impact on AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the site of the CFP game.
The weather at the stadium will be bad starting Thursday morning and continuing through Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service is currently forecasting two to four inches of snow and up to a tenth of an inch of ice.
Consequently, the NWS has issued a winter storm warning.
Although the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium is covered, the tens of thousands of spectators who will travel to see the game could be in danger due to the weather.

The Cotton Bowl and AT&T Stadium jointly released a statement on Tuesday confirming that the Longhorns and Buckeyes game will go as planned, with a kickoff time of 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
“We’re still keeping an eye on weather reports, and the National Weather Service has improved their forecast for later this week over the past 24 hours,” the statement read.
“We have been holding regular meetings with the College Football Playoff, the North Texas Transportation Director, and city officials.
“We are ready for any unforeseen circumstances if the prediction changes.
“North Texas highways are already being brined and plans are in place to ensure a safe environment for everyone in and around AT&T Stadium on game day.”
The two collegiate football teams will arrive in Arlington on Wednesday, the announcement it stated.
It is anticipated that about 70,000 people would attend the competition on Friday.
Luckily for them, Friday’s high of about 40 degrees is predicted to cause the snow and ice to melt.
In order to be ready for the storm, more workers will be available on Wednesday, according to Kevin Oden, the director of emergency management and crisis response for Dallas.
As we get ready to host teams and fans for the Cotton Bowl, we’re keeping a careful eye on the traffic situation entering the city,” Oden stated.
