DEBARYLIFE – A 20-year-old woman was arrested in connection with an armed carjacking that happened in the District of Columbia last month, prompting residents to be cautious when transacting on the internet.

According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department, She’ri Mykalie Bell of Southeast was taken into custody and is being charged with the carjacking that happened on May 15.

An earlier Facebook meeting scheduled for Northeast D.C. was at issue in this incident. Bell is accused of entering their car, brandishing a firearm, then taking off with it as the victim got out.

After that, the vehicle was found. As Bell was being arrested, it was discovered that she had a handgun. She was also accused of possessing unregistered ammunition and carrying a pistol without a license.

In light of these and other occurrences, the MPD is aggressively advocating for the usage of Safe Exchange Zones, which are locations within police stations where people can transact business in a more secure environment.

These areas are intended to lessen the possibility of robberies and other crimes connected to Internet transactions.

All district stations, from the Special Operations Division’s Harbor Patrol at 550 Water Street SW to the First District Station at 101 M Street SW, are located in these zones.
To be safe and perhaps prevent becoming victims of crimes like the most recent carjacking, the MPD stresses the significance of using these zones.

People who refuse to meet at these Safe Exchange Zone sites should be viewed with suspicion, according to officers.
