Dad drops dead after watching son, 15, accidentally kill own brother, 17, as he desperately tried to save him

After his teenage son was unintentionally shot by his younger sibling at their house, a father died despite his best efforts to preserve his life.

When authorities arrived at the family’s residence, they discovered Jay Gonzales, 41, and Joshua Gonzales, 17, dead.

According to authorities, Jay passed away from an unspecified medical incident, while Joshua was shot and killed by his 15-year-old brother.

The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victims of the disaster, which took place in Texas City, Texas, on Galveston Bay outside of Houston.

According to local NBC station KPRC-TV, Jay, who had seen the shooting, passed away while administering life-saving treatments to Joshua.

After hearing about the gunshot, police hurried to the site on Monday shortly after 1:20 am, according to the Texas City Police Department.

Joshua Gonzales was a student, according to a statement from the Texas City Independent School District.

According to his Facebook profile, the father, Jay Gonzales, was a traveling tattoo artist who worked at the Artistic Image tattoo parlor in Texas City.

Gonzales frequently shared his tattoos on his Instagram and Facebook sites, which have since become the subject of multiple tributes.

According to Houston CBS station KHOU, Gonzales’ coworkers at Artistic Image reported that he was well-liked by many because he often volunteered to serve the community.

His business colleague Melo Salazar stated, “Most importantly, he was a human being and a damn good one, in addition to being a tattoo artist and a business partner.”

“He participated in school campaigns and fundraisers for the community. I apologize; I know it’s difficult. If he could, he went above and above, guy.

Salazar told KHOU, “Anybody that knew him, I don’t have to say that if they knew him, they loved him – he’ll give the shirt off his back.”
