Dallas Cowboys make official quarterback decision after another heavy home defeat and Dak Prescott out for season

The starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the Washington Commanders in Week 12 was revealed.

Due to Dak Prescott’s season-ending hamstring surgery last week, the Dallas Cowboys, led by Jerry Jones, have now dropped five straight games and are without him.

On Monday Night Football, Dallas lost to the Houston Texans 34-10, another heartbreaking home defeat.

They have lost a home game by more than 20 points for the fourth time this season and are 0–5 on the road.

Inconsistent, Cooper Rush completed 32 of 55 throws for 354 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one fumble when the Cowboys started him.

Head coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged on Tuesday that he felt bad about denying Trey Lance a chance to participate in the game.

Despite this, McCarthy informed reporters that Rush would start again and that Lance would again be included in the game.

McCarthy reportedly stated, “We got a package for Trey, and we’ll see what happens,” according to Sports.

McCarthy stated that Rush will continue to be the team’s starting quarterback, echoing Jones’ remarks from Monday night.

After Monday’s defeat, Jones told reporters, “I think our best chance is to have Rush in here, and the goal is to win the game,”

Lance participated in the Cowboys’ 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the prior game.

Rush, who began the game, had a miserable performance, being only the third person in the past 20 years to attempt more than 20 passes (23), and to have fewer than 50 passing yards in a game (45).

Rush was replaced by Lance, who finished the game with just 21 passing yards and one interception.

During his first six starts in 2021 and 2022, Rush had won five of them.

In the past two weeks, the Cowboys have now lost both of his starts by a total score of 68-16.

Superstar wideout CeeDee Lamb has collected 14 of Rush’s 22 targets for 114 yards, demonstrating how difficult it is for Rush to keep up with Lamb.

It would be shocking if Lance wasn’t started by Dallas this season.

Lance was purchased by the Cowboys from the San Francisco 49ers prior to the 2023 season in return for a 2024 fourth-round pick.

Lance, 24, was previously selected with the third overall pick.
