Daniel Jones breaks silence after being officially benched by New York Giants as he reads out emotional statement

For the first time since the New York Giants cruelly benched him, Daniel Jones spoke.

This Thursday, the Giants declared they were letting go of the 27-year-old.

He was selected in the first round of the 2019 NFLDraft six years prior.

Since Jones signed his new four-year, $160 million contract in March 2023, New York has dropped to 2-8 this season and is 3-13 when he starts.

Tommy DeVito will start at quarterback, the team revealed, ahead of Drew Lock and Jones.

During his press appearance on Thursday, Jones read out a prepared statement.

“After all, this is football, and we work in a field where results are expected, and we weren’t delivering on that.

“You’ve got to accept it and understand.”

For the first time, Jones discussed his benching in public.

“There have been some great times, but of course we all wish there had been more of those,” Jones stated.

“I fully accept responsibility for my role in not bringing in additional victories.
