Daniel Jones makes major decision over his NFL future post New York Giants exit after rejecting top team

Daniel Jones is weighing his options for the NFL team he will join next.

After asking to be released by the New York Giants last week, Jones was removed from the team’s roster.

In a matter of days, Jones went from being benched to the team’s fourth string quarterback to being cut, but it hasn’t stopped teams from signing him.

Several teams are already interested in adding the 27-year-old to their lineups, but he is selective about which team he joins.

One of the first teams to make an offer for Jones was the Las Vegas Raiders, but he has already turned it down.

Jones wants to join a club that is vying for the playoffs, according to Jordan Schultz, who broke the story on Monday.

With a 2-9 record, the Raiders are almost out of the running for the playoffs this year.

“Despite interest from the #Raiders, free agent QB Daniel Jones has eliminated Las Vegas from his consideration (contrary to other reports),”he stated.

“The former #Giants QB is weighing substantial interest from multiple playoff teams, and wants to join a postseason contender.”

Given that starter Gardner Minshewis would have been sidelined for the rest of the season due to a collarbone injury, Jones probably would have been put in as the Raiders’ starting quarterback right away.

Although playoff teams probably don’t need a starting quarterback, Schulz did note that they are interested in Jones and that he may be a nice insurance policy for them in the event of an injury.

The San Francisco 49ers, who have concerns about quarterback Brock Purdy, are one of those teams.

Due to a shoulder injury, Purdy was forced to miss last weekend’s game, and the team is uncertain when he will be able to play again.

With a 5-6 record, the 49ers are barely in the running for the playoffs, but Jones might help them go over the finish line without Purdy.

San Francisco is “very real” about a long-term absence from Purdy, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Through ten games, Purdy and Jones’ seasons weren’t all that different.

Jones had seven interceptions vs Purdy’s eight, threw eight touchdowns versus Purdy’s thirteen, and had 2,070 yards versus Purdy’s 2,613.

Purdy scored four touchdowns on the run while Jones only managed two, and they had nearly equal numbers of rushing yards (267 and 265).

Purdy’s offense is also far superior, and Jones might gain from having players like George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey close by.

In order to incorporate Jones in the offense for the upcoming game on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, the 49ers would need to sign him quickly.

Jones might yet wait for the right offer and decide not to sign before this week.

Until the pen hits the paper, fans probably won’t know who Jones will sign with.
