DARK SECRETS UNVEILED: Social Worker’s Crimes Against a Child
The mother of a 13-year-old boy who was raped dark Secrets Unveiled: Social Worker’s Crimes Against a Child groomed by his adult female social worker feels terrible about letting the predator into her house.
The mother, whose name was not given, told Ohio’s Payton Shires in a statement read in court Thursday that the abuse had destroyed her son and made her lose faith in the country’s social services, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
It said, “Instead, he was manipulated, groomed, and sexually abused by Ms. Shires,” as reported by the local newspaper. “I regret ever letting you in my house.”
Shires, who is 24 years old, has more than four years in jail and will have to sign up as a sex offender from now on. The woman admitted to four counts of illegal sexual conduct with a child in May. She also admitted to other rapes.
The mother of the victim said she started to notice troubling texts between Shires and her son toward the end of last year. One of the texts asked the counselor if he had deleted some videos.
Later, investigators found texts that pointed the finger at them and at least one video of them doing sexual acts.
The police set up a three-way phone call between Shires, the mother, and the social worker, who admitted that the two were having an affair. Shires worked with the National Youth Advocate Program, which helps foster kids and other kids by matching them with counselors and other kids who can help them.
After the accusations were made public, Shires was fired.
After being arrested, the counselor was freed on a $50,000 bond and showed up at the victim’s house with a gun.
She yelled that the boy’s mother had ruined her life by telling the police about their connection. Police say Shires told the parents he would kill them.
She told the court Thursday, “I was not thinking rationally at the time that I showed up to the mother’s house.” She said that she was suicidal at the time.
Shires said, “I’m just thankful that she did the right thing and called the police.” He thought that her arrest would have kept her from going further down a bad path.
At her sentence, Shires asked Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Mark Serrott for leniency. She told the judge that she had a 4-year-old son and had been mentally ill for a long time without getting help as per FOXNEWS.
But Serrott told Shires she was wrong for what she did.
The judge said, “He was a child,” before giving the sentence. “He was trying to get the help he needed.”
