Deadly New Orleans attack: Its impact on security in Michigan moving forward
Similar to New Orleans, Detroit will host events like the North American International Auto Show on January 10 that will attract visitors from around the country and beyond.
(FOX 2):Details of the alleged terrorist attack on Bourbon Street were given by a united front of federal, state, and local officials just hours after the terrible start to the new year in New Orleans.
Safety for upcoming events, such as the Super Bowl, is the first priority.
“We plan to evaluate any potential flaws in the system in a transparent manner so that we may fix them. It’s the only way to guarantee that the errors are fixed,” Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry stated.

Steve Dolunt is a former Detroit Police assistant chief. He handled security for many major events, including the Super Bowl, while he was employed with DPD.
He shared his thoughts on what Lions supporters, particularly the tailgaters, might expect from Sunday’s prime-time game in downtown.
“From a security perspective, how does law enforcement locally and internationally try to make sure this event is protected?” questioned Brandon Hudson of FOX 2.
“In front of the Huntington Place in Detroit, which is now known as that, there are cement stanchions that resemble flower pots, precisely like those outside the federal building. Therefore, a car approaching from the east on Jefferson would collide with the concrete. Again, I have no doubt that everyone will be prepared for Sunday’s game at Ford Field.
A potential copycat assault is a real concern as New Orleans attempts to recover and protect its citizens. However, that applies not only to Louisiana but to any American city, including Detroit.
Days before Christmas, Dolunt brought up the incident at a German Christmas market. The attack in New Orleans strikes nearer to home a little over a week later.
According to Dolunt’s sources, the FBI should have issued a threat assessment after the incident in Germany, but it was never made public. Detroit will host the globally renowned North American International Auto Show and a primetime football game over the course of the following month.
Tens of thousands of people are anticipated to visit both over a period of increased awareness.
“Whether it’s a domestic terrorist attack or someone like the man in Oxford who shot those who stopped to assist him, Americans need to be on guard. There are many excellent people in this nation. “They shouldn’t have to alter their lifestyle due to a terrorist,” he stated.
