Delaware’s Finest: Blue-gold All-star Football Game Rosters Announced
NEWARK, Del. – Rosters for this summer’s Blue-Gold All-Star football game have been issued, and they feature kids from 48 schools around Delaware.
The Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with Intellectual Disabilities organizes the summer all-star game every year, and it involves student-athletes who have been picked for their great character as well as their exceptional football abilities. In addition to the players on the field, each game features band members and cheerleaders, as well as student ambassadors from the DFRC Blue-Gold program, which aims to create environments that promote diversity and acceptance while focusing on abilities in schools and communities.
The blue team’s head coach for the 2024 game will be John Reed from Caravel Academy. He will be helped by Caravel alumni Dave Willard, Matt Rice, and John Smith, as well as Howard High School of Technology’s Rahsaan Matthews and Archmere Academy’s John Bellace.
Marvin Dooley of Woodbridge High School has been chosen to captain the gold team. He will be accompanied by Woodbridge coaches Dom Trotta, JD Messeck, and Brandon Dooley. They will be joined by Eston Ennis of Sussex Tech and Patrick Moffitt of St. Andrew’s.
The 68th Blue-Gold All-Star Football Game is scheduled for Friday, June 21. The University of Delaware football stadium’s gates open at 5 p.m., with kickoff at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online, and the proceeds from the Blue-Gold football game and other DFRC events benefit enrichment programs for Delawareans with intellectual disabilities.
