FOX 2– however before agreeing to the arrangement, the Israeli prime minister says they still need to iron out the last details.

Overview:

The ceasefire, which would allow citizens, detainees, and hostages to return home, is divided into three parts.Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who had been displaced could return home during the first phase, which would last six weeks and end all combat. According to reports, two of the 33 hostages that Hamas is holding would be released.

During the first phase, hundreds of truckloads of humanitarian aid will be provided to Gaza daily in exchange for Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners.

Tonight, the Israeli government is anticipated to vote on the agreement. According to reports, the first phase might begin on Sunday if it passes.

Local viewpoint:

The Arab American News’s publisher, Osama Siblani, offered his opinion.

“We’re very relieved and happy a resolution has been reached,” Siblanmi stated. “I hope it will stick and it will remain in place.”

The Congregation Beth Shalom’s Rabbi David Nelson responded similarly.

“All of this makes me cautiously optimistic. How are you unable to be? “Nelson said.”

According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, no agreement has been reached, but the proposal being considered would see Israel free hundreds of Palestinian inmates and Hamas release captives over several weeks.

Aid will be made more easier, and displaced families will be able to return to Gaza.

“We have been for the last 15 months watching the devastation of Gaza, and the children and women and the destruction, the mass destruction – and it has not been easy on this community at all,” Siblani stated. “Now we re happy to see maybe an end to the violence.”

“Nobody knows exactly how many people are going to emerge but I pray for their mental and physical heath,” Rabbi Nelson added.

Metro Detroit areas have been affected by the 15-month conflict, which resulted in thousands of deaths and brutality on both sides.

The length of time it has taken to close this contract has angered some members of the Muslim Coalition at Wayne State University.

“It is a step towards the right direction,” WSU coalition member Ali Hassan said. “But Palestinian statehood is the larger picture. if Palestinians still have the right to exist at all. and whether or not calls would be made to arrest specific individuals, such as Netanyahu and Israel’s defense administrator.”

Next steps:

Nelson and Siblani both wish for peace and the continuation of the ceasefire.

“I pray all those who suffered, who were Israelis among the hostages, I also pray for the innocent palestinians who died in great number as well,” Nelson stated.

“I would like to see our country, the United States of America and the rest of the world help Palestinians regain their livelihoods and rebuild their lives,” stated Siblani.
