Detroit Lions’ David Montgomery getting third opinion after knee injury
According to the head coach of the Detroit Lions, running back David Montgomery is seeking a third opinion following a knee injury sustained during the team’s defeat over the Buffalo Bills.
(FOX 2) After hurting his knee against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, running back David Montgomery will get a third opinion.
Coach Dan Campbell’s update gives the struggling squad hope amidst concerns about an MCL tear in a game where the defense is playing.
“David’s getting another opinion and so he’s had a couple, and really you know, just see, what this third one says,” he stated. “That’s why we’ve not put him on injured reserve.”
He described the team’s current state as “waiting mode.”
Whether Montgomery’s knee is stable, whether it will scar, and whether the running back can produce at the level required to compete are some of the issues surrounding his status.
was carried off the field, while two defensive mainstays, Carlton Davis and Alim McNeil, also sustained chronic injuries.
A running back known locally as Knuckles helped the Detroit Lions and a charitable organization in their relationship to ensure that every child in the neighborhood has a winter coat for Christmas.
Staying focused on football to be played
Even though the Lions have been able to bounce back from injuries and victories, some fans were alarmed by last Sunday’s defeat and began to worry that a Super Bowl-bound club may limp into the postseason.
During his press conference on Wednesday, Campbell dismissed the negativity, telling reporters that although his team “got popped in the mouth,” that doesn’t mean the players won’t bounce back and continue to play at their best.
“We need to go back to work and reposition ourselves to be able to play the next game and learn from what happened,” he stated. “And the other is to not lose confidence in the fact that we still have really good players here on defense “
Every week, the objective is to focus on the day rather than on past failures or obstacles in the future.
“And it’s my job to alleviate stress in some areas and just kind of balance the buoy if you will and we’ll do that,” he continued.
He mentioned players like Brian Branch, Terrion Arnold, Kirby Joseph, and Jack Campbell as defensive leaders who will maintain a competitive end to the game.
“We got to be prepared to go out and play a good football team in the Chicago Bears,” he stated.
Campbell on Chicago: “Talented Team”
The Lions are still leading the conference and have the tiebreaker over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North title chase, despite concerns over injuries.
This weekend, however, Detroit will travel to play their second game against the Chicago Bears, a different divisional opponent.
Despite a coaching change mid-season and a rookie quarterback still finding his groove, Campbell said they were preparing for a talented team that continues to play hard.
Playing “at a high level” and returning to the fundamentals will be necessary to defeat them.
“They’ve got things they like, but also, they got a lot of variety in what they do,” he stated. “We’re going to prepare for everything they’ve done.”
