A running back known locally as Knuckles helped the Detroit Lions and a charitable organization in their relationship to ensure that every child in the neighborhood has a winter coat for Christmas.

However, he is accustomed to conquering challenges, and he now takes tremendous joy in being able to give back as a Lions running back.
Lions running back David Montgomery was on his feet Tuesday night, standing next to supporters, sharing happiness and joy this holiday season, even if the team suffered a difficult loss to the Bills.
“I was not expecting any of this, I didn’t, it was just amazing,” Ontario fan Oliver Henderson remarked.
Montgomery has partnered with The Yunion, a nonprofit organization based in Detroit.
Nicole Wilson, executive director of The Yunion, stated, “We provide life skills, mentoring, and prevention programs to approximately 1,200 youth each year.” “It s our mission to serve our families, our babies, and this fits right in,” Wilson stated.
Making sure children had coats was a good reason for them to band together. Montgomery knows what it’s like to go without.
Montgomery remarked, “I didn’t have a coat when I was a kid.” “My mom tried her best to do what she could to kind of get us the best coat as she could and she did just that”
He is also aware that Detroit’s grit extends beyond the football field.
“It s gritty, blue-collar place, and the players and the people who give back to community, you can tell they care,” he stated.
The coats being collected here are either brand-new or slightly used, such as Oliver’s.
“These children spend a month or two wearing their coats. Rachel Henderson, a fan, stated, “I said let’s go do some good before Christmas.”
It may be some time before Monty is seen on the pitch, but the supporters who are lined up to see their football hero are aware of this. For those fans, however, the man himself has a message.
“It’s football; injuries happen all the time, but as I mentioned weeks ago and when I first arrived, we have guys you can count on when things go tough. “That’s highly dependable,” Montgomery remarked. “It sucks that I happen to be one of the guys that s down, but we got more than enough firepower to get the job done.”
The Yunion will be collecting coats, new and gently worn, through Friday with hopes to give them out before Christmas.
