FOX 2-A Detroit man is accused of firing twice, just hours apart, at a police officer’s home in Warren.
On January 5, Dashaun Lewis allegedly stood outside the property of a reserve Highland Park police officer and fired five shots at it. Both the victim’s car and the house were damaged by the gunshots.
Lewis returned to the house a few hours later, early on January 6, and is accused of shooting at two victims who were standing outside the house and at the house once more.
At the time of the second shooting, three people were present at the house but were unharmed. Lewis ran away, but Warren police found him a few blocks away using a drone.
In the second shooting incident, Lewis, 21, was charged with ten offenses, including attempted murder.
“These accusations are grave and exceedingly worrisome. In addition to causing substantial property damage, this heinous act of violence endangered the community’s safety, according to Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Such actions cannot be tolerated, and we will pursue justice to ensure the safety and security of all our residents.”
He was arraigned with a set bond of $300,000.00 cash/surety in the first set of four counts for the shooting on January 5. The defendant must wear a GPS tether, refrain from contacting any of the witnesses or victims, and not own any firearms after being released.
He was arraigned with a set bond of $600,000.00 cash/surety on the latter set of six counts. The defendant must wear a GPS tether, refrain from contacting any of the witnesses or victims, and abstain from all guns after being released.
