DETROIT (FOX 2):After reportedly trying to floss his teeth with a 13-year-old girl’s hair, a Detroit priest and self-described exorcist is now facing prosecution.
The backstory
Detroit native Father Carlos Martins, the host of the well-liked podcast “The Exorcist Files,” likens his life to the film “The Exorcist.” He lives and works at the Companions of Cross Church on Detroit’s west side and is a Catholic.
Father Martins, a traveling priest, was in Illinois in November.
What they’re saying:
He allegedly went up to a 13-year-old girl there and inquired about her hair, specifically whether she ever used it to clean her teeth.
Sgt. Dwayne English of the Joliet Police Department stated, “It is then alleged that he picked up her hair, put it in his mouth, and made a flossing motion.”
According to the police, he began snarling at her a few minutes later while seated in the pew behind her.
“That was the allegation that was made by not only the young lady herself but the individuals that were around her at that time,” stated Dwayne.
Earlier this week, he brought himself in on a misdemeanor violence charge for attempting to use the teen’s hair to floss.
Next steps:
The leader of “Companions of Cross Church” told FOX 2 that Father Martins is presently unable to provide services to the general public until his matter is resolved by the courts.
In Illinois, he faces a year in prison or probation if convicted.
