DETROIT (FOX 2):A water main broke overnight, leaving a community near Detroit without water on Wednesday.

Crews from the water department have been working on one block of Greeley close to 7 Mile since 3:30 a.m. The noises of jack hammers and water rushing from the damaged main filled the air as day broke and workmen attempted to make things better in the neighborhood.

However, some of the block’s residents do not have running water, and others are concerned about the state of the roads.

“Cars are already gliding down the street. “It will get worse once that freezes up,” resident Albert Thomas stated. “Water everywhere people can t drive down the street, it s crazy.”According to the city’s water and sewerage department, which FOX 2 contacted, the water main ruptured sometime during the night on Tuesday or early on Wednesday.

It is anticipated that water mains may break, and Greeley residents should anticipate that the repairs will be finished by Wednesday evening.

Albert Thomas, a resident, stated, “I feel bad for them, especially the ones that need some water; they might have a medical problem.”

The water will be switched back on and flow from the tap rather than onto the street once the water main is ready to use.
