After missing an important kick late in the Washington Commanders’ 34-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, kicker Austin Seibert was unable to control his emotions.
The Commanders began the season 7-3 and have now dropped three straight games.
After missing a game-tying extra point in Sunday’s divisional matchup in Washington, Seibert broke down in tears as he spoke to reporters.
“I just want to improve my performance for my teammates.” In the locker room, Seibert replied, “I definitely don’t want to do that.”
“Just wasn t striking well, but it means a lot to me to be here with these guys, so just want to put my best foot moving forward.”
With just 21 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, a spectacular play led to the miss.

The Dallas Cowboys’ lead was reduced to 27-26 when Commanders standout quarterback Jayden Daniels connected with wide receiver Terry McClaurin for an 86-yard touchdown.
Then, in shock, Seibert put his hands on his helmet after missing the extra point that would have knotted the game.
After missing the previous two games due to a right hip injury, Seibert, 28, came into the game.
In the past, when Washington led 9-3 in the third quarter, he had missed an extra point.
Additionally, with the Commanders leading 3-0 in the first quarter, Seibert missed a 51-yard field goal.
Before he missed the extra point, a reporter questioned Seibert about the low snap.
“[The snap] had no effect whatsoever. I’m responsible,” he declared.
Dan Quinn, the head coach of Washington, stated that at the moment, he had no intention of going for two.
With 14 seconds left, Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas returned the onside kick 43 yards for a touchdown following Seibert’s missed extra point.
The Commanders were favored by 10.5 points going into the match.
The Cowboys’ five-game losing streak came to an end.
Washington’s three-game losing streak is still going strong; their most recent victory came on November 3.
On Thanksgiving in Dallas, the Cowboys will host the struggling 2-9 New York Giants.
