DNA evidence sent to lab in UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin manhunt as new video ‘shows him ditch item’ before murder
According to analysts, DNA evidence connected to the murder of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, has been forwarded to the forensics lab for analysis.
The health boss was shot and killed outside a hotel in New York City on the morning of Wednesday, December 4, and police are still looking for clues.
The DNA evidence was obtained from an unidentified location after authorities investigated a hostel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on December 3, which is thought to be where the accused murderer resided prior to the shooting.
Shortly before the murder, the suspect is seen on new video leaving an object behind.
The discovery comes following another lead in the case, as it was reported that the gunman traveled from Atlanta to New York last month aboard a Greyhound bus.
Security footage shows him disembarking from the bus on November 24 at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.
In an alley near the New York Hilton Midtown, where Thompson was shot upon arriving for an investor’s conference, a burner phone that the suspect had discarded was discovered.
The shooting happened in the center of Midtown Manhattan, outside the hotel on West 54th Street.
The shooter then ran off down an alleyway onto West 55th Street before being spotted riding a bike left on Avenue of the Americas.
He was last seen biking toward Central Park, which has more sporadic surveillance camera coverage.
The murderer purchased a coffee, a water bottle, and two energy bars at a Starbucks on West 57th Street prior to the killing.
