Drew Allar makes major decision over his NFL future after devastating Penn State CFP semifinal defeat

Drew Allar, the quarterback at PENN State, is playing collegiate football for a second season.

Allar has made the decision to return to Penn State following his defeat in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal.

Allar will play one more season in an attempt to increase his stock, although his name was circulating as a possible first-round NFLDraft talent if he chose to declare.

Allar threw for just 135 yards and no touchdowns in the CFP semifinal, which was a terrible performance.

At the conclusion of the game, he made a costly interception that let Notre Dame advance to the championship.

After Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, Allar would have been among the top quarterbacks selected in the 2025 draft.

Allar will instead attempt the 2026 class, which features names like Carson Beck and Arch Manning.

In the 2022 recruiting class, Allar was ranked third overall and as the top quarterback prospect.

Before assuming the lead in 2023, he was the backup during his rookie campaign.

Allar has passed for 6,302 yards, 53 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in his career thus far.

In addition, he has ran for 11 touchdowns and 564 yards.

His choice to go back to school was likely influenced by the fact that his numbers aren’t as outstanding as those of players like Sanders and Ward.

Fans of college football have expressed differing views on social media on Allar’s decision.

“He is powerless. Another fan remarked, “After that bowl game loss, his draft stock was going to be in the dirt.”

A third admirer remarked, “I don’t blame him for how he ended the season.”

Penn State advanced to the semifinals by thrashing Boise State and SMU by a combined 45 points.
