Driver in St. Clair Shores smashes through condominium wall
When a wrong-way driver crashed through the wall, a St. Clair Shores woman was inside her condo’s front room.
FOX 2: St. Claire Shores, Mich.A woman in St. Clair Shores had a terrifying near-miss.
A wrong-way driver crashed through the wall when she was inside her condo’s front room.
“I was sleeping, and I heard a really big boom and I looked out my window, and then I see a car and all the windows just knocked out,” Morgan Rogers, a neighbor, said.
The apartment of Christine Chilcutt, her next-door neighbor, had been struck by a pickup truck.
“I just opened the curtains, walked away, and I heard a crash and I turned, and there was a truck in my living room,” stated Chilcutt.
It took place in St. Clair Shores on Harper, close to Masonic, on Friday morning.
“At first, I was just incredulous and shocked, and my immediate instinct was to dial 911. “They already had someone on the way when I called 911,” Chilcutt added.
On the grass where the truck veered off the road and directly into Christine Chilcutt’s house, you can see the tire tracks. She instantly thought of her kitties, Bella and Steffie, as her husband was in route to his workplace.
“I guess they booked it downstairs – finally found them hiding – my first concern was where they were at cause their cat tree house is like right there, and found them so relief on that,” she continued.
Police arrested the motorist on the spot, according to witnesses. FOX 2 is investigating if she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Chilcutt, meantime, is grateful to be alive despite the fact that things could have turned out far worse.
“We sit in that living room on that couch a lot, watching TV and if the circumstances were different, if we were just watching TV it could have been a different outcome.”
