Drunk driver Jamie Lee Komoroski’s final words before being sentenced to 25 years in prison over death of new bride

Just before being sentenced, a drunk driver found guilty of killing a new bride acknowledged that she would live with the guilt for the rest of her life.

On the first day of her trial, Jamie Lee Komoroski entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 25 years in jail.

In April 2023, Komoroski crashed into a golf cart transporting newlyweds Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson when she was three times over the legal alcohol limit.

When the tragedy occurred on Folly Beach, South Carolina, Miller, 34, had only been married for five hours.

Miller and Hutchinson were riding in a buggy when Komoroski’s automobile crashed into it.

Police claim that in the immediate aftermath of the collision, Komoroski was uncooperative.

She did, however, enter a guilty plea to the accusations against her and was seen crying in court on Monday.

As she awaited punishment, tears streamed down her face.

Just prior to being sentenced, Komoroski spoke to Miller’s relatives.

She declared, “This is the worst choice I have ever made in my life, and it has had a significant impact on many people’s lives.”

I accept full responsibility for the unfortunate result of my choices.

For the rest of my life, I will bear this guilt.

She also acknowledged that she felt a great deal of regret and guilt.

During the court hearing, Miller’s family made heartfelt remarks.

Footagehas since been released showing what turned into Hutchinson s and Miller s final moments together.

He was hospitalized with severe injuries but survived the crash.

He revealed that he now sees doctors and therapists in light of what transpired.

I wish he died that night. I wish I had seen it coming, Hutchinson told the court.

The golf buggy was hurled 100 yards after the impact smash.

Police said Komoroski smelled of alcohol, but she reportedly told officers she had only drunk a beer and a tequila, according to court docs seen by the NBC affiliateWCBD-TV.

Komoroski refused to do a sobriety test and was uncooperative, according to police.

Cops also asked her how drunk she felt, to which she replied an eight out of 10.

Komoroski was not injured in the crash.

Hutchinson recalled how Miller had told him she didn t want the night to end.

Benjamin Garrett, who was driving the golf buggy, was also injured.

He spoke about his regret that he didn t get Miller and her husband to where they were staying.

It was my only job, and I didn t get to complete it.

Komoroski pled guilty to one count of felony DUI as well as two counts of DUI causing great bodily injury or death.

She also pled guilty to a charge of reckless homicide.

Hutchinson said he believes Komoroski s remorse but told how his family has to come to terms with Miller s death.
