Eastpointe police arrest man who allegedly shot ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend

EASPOINTE, Michigan (FOX 2) –After shooting his ex-girlfriend’s new lover on Friday, a guy was taken into custody.

The incident occurred on January 3, 2025, at around 3:30 p.m., in the 15000 block of 9 Mile. A victim with a gunshot wound to the chest was found by the officers.

After being taken to a nearby hospital, the sufferer is anticipated to fully recover. According to preliminary investigations, the suspect was apparently outraged by the victim’s current connection with his ex-girlfriend.

According to authorities, the suspect approached the victim dressed as a lady, complete with a black jacket, pink tight pants, a pink shirt, and a wig. Following a brief exchange of words, the suspect allegedly pulled out a revolver, shot the victim once in the chest, and then fled on foot, dodging nearby security cameras.

A search warrant for a home on the 17000 block of Albian Street in Detroit was obtained after the suspect and his whereabouts were determined by the Eastpointe Detective Bureau and Special Investigations Unit. The Detective Bureau assisted the Eastpointe Special Response Team in carrying out the search warrant.

The guy shot through the front door as authorities tried to enter the house, just missing officers on the porch. Because they couldn’t see the culprit well, officers didn’t shoot back.

Officers negotiated the suspect’s surrender after assuming defensive positions. Without incident, the defendant and his girlfriend were taken into jail.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office will assess the case, which is still being investigated.
