Emergency NOW! Utah Children’s Feeding Program In Peril After Loss Of Significant Funding
OGDEN – After a $300,000 donation was taken out of a local charity, funding for feeding 20,000 children in northern Utah is running low.
The “Bridging the Gap” initiative, managed by Catholic Community Services, is a mobile food distribution program that travels to Weber and Ogden School Districts’ low-income elementary schools.
Odyssey Elementary School Principal Sonja Davidson stated that she witnessed the program’s effects when it came to her students.
Yes. I would argue that for many of our pupils, Bridging the Gap is vitally crucial. More than 90% of the pupils at our school are eligible for free lunches, according to Davidson.
Breakfast and lunch are provided by the school, but according to Davidson, kids are unable to guarantee what they will eat while they are not in class. Here’s when Bridging the Gap’s food bags come in handy.
And when you’re hungry, your attention is solely on food. You have food on your mind. And from whence will I be getting my next meal? stated Catholic Community Services’ director of basic needs, Randy Chappell.

According to Chappell, the initiative has assisted in feeding children since 2016 because of a few kind donors, but a significant portion of that has since disappeared.
Yes, it is a bit letdown. We’ve been receiving this money donation for years now, you know. It was quite shocking, he continued.
Catholic Community Services is committed to continuing the program, according to Chappell, but it will require community cooperation to bridge the financing shortfall.
Children and faculty at the ten schools in the school districts of Weber and Ogden hope that someone will continue to bring them in.
Catholic Community Services is searching for donors or perhaps a discounted store where they may get the supplies they need. By visiting the donation page, you can donate.
