Executed murderer’s shocking final words before he was gassed to death as he gasped & thrashed in 19 minute ordeal

Witnesses were stunned by a murderer’s last comments before he was put to death, as he was gassed to death during a torturous 19-minute experience.

Carey Dale Grayson, 50, was put to death by nitrogen gas after killing a hitchhiker in Alabama thirty years prior.

He and three other adolescent buddies murdered and maimed 37-year-old Vickie DeBlieux in 1994 while she was traveling through the state on a hitchhiking to her mother’s house in Louisiana.

On February 26, her battered body was discovered at the base of a bluff close to Odenville, Alabama.

On November 21, Carey was dragged into an execution chamber and given a gas mask before the nitrogen started to fill his lungs.

“You need to f*** off,” the murderer told the prison warden after shaking and rocking his head as the lethal gas started to flow.

Additionally, he was observed giving witnesses the finger in what seemed to be the center of the room.

Another thing was stated loudly, but it’s unclear what it was.

As the nitrogen gas was injected into his mask, the murderer was observed convulsing and struggling to breathe.

Additionally, he was spotted shaking his head from left to right and thrashing.

According to reports, he stopped breathing at 6:21 p.m. and was declared dead at 6:33 p.m.

After providing her a lift with his three other friends, Carey was found guilty of the murder.

The four teenagers offered Vickie a ride while she was hitchhiking from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to her mother’s house in West Monroe.

At the time, prosecutors said that Carey and his friends had led her into the woods, where they had attacked and fatally beaten her.

Later, they went back to the spot and dismembered the body.

They would go back and cut her body 180 times, remove a piece of her lung, and cut off her fingers.

According to a medical examiner’s testimony, her face was so broken that an earlier X-ray of her spine was able to identify her.

At the time of the savage attack, Carey was only 19 years old, and all of his co-defendants were less than 18.

He received a death sentence, but in 2005, the sentences of the other three were all changed to life in prison.

It was contended that the possibility of their death was unconstitutional because they were minors.

With Carey’s death, nitrogengas was used for the third execution.

What is Nitrogen Execution

Nitrogen gas execution is a very uncommon and contentious technique.

Lethal nitrogen gas is pumped into the subject’s mask during the execution.

In what some consider to be a barbaric practice, the gas then gradually deprives the wearer of all oxygen.

Although the time required to die from nitrogen gas varies from person to person, it is estimated to be no more than 22 minutes.

The question of whether sedatives should be given to people prior to this type of execution is up for dispute.

While some contend that this isn’t the case, others have called the technique “slow suffocation.”

People who have been killed by nitrogen gas have been observed convulsing and panting for air.

Only three nitrogen gas executions have been performed.

Jodi Haley, DeBlieux’s daughter, was twelve years old when her mother was murdered.

“She was special,” she stated. She was impulsive. She was crazy. She had a sense of humor.

She was also quite beautiful.

Governor Kay Ivey has harshly criticized the crime.

She stated: “Carey Grayson and three other men horribly interrupted Vicki DeBlieux’s voyage to her mother’s house and, eventually, her life some thirty years ago.

“She tried to flee after sensing something wasn’t right, but was mercilessly tortured and killed instead.

Even after she passed away, Mr. Grayson’s actions against Ms. DeBlieux were horrifying, unthinkable, completely indifferent to human life, and simply inexplicably cruel.

“The death and dismemberment Ms. DeBlieux endured are incomparable to an execution by nitrogen hypoxia.

“I pray for her loved ones, that they may continue finding closure and healing.”

NITROGEN GAS CONTROVERSY

Even though Carey’s crime was horrific, his execution technique is still quite contentious.

Earlier this year, the state used nitrogen gas to execute Alan Eugene Miller, 59, and Kenneth Eugene Smith, 58.

For around two minutes, when the nitrogen entered their systems, they were both observed quivering and shaking on the gurney.

As their bodies responded to the surgery, both guys were also cognizant, according to attorney John Palombi.

He stated: “I would submit to thecourtthat being conscious and being suffocated for a period of time constitutes terror that is superadded to this protocol that does not have to be there, as acknowledged by the fact that the state is willing to, if he requests it, give Mr. Grayson a sedative.”

Alabama’s deputy solicitor general, Robert Overing, didn’t agree with the lawyer.

He claimed; “This is really apples and oranges, trying to use the term “suffocation” to evoke a fear and pain that doesn’t exist with this method.”

Before being executed, Carey’s plea for a sedative was turned down.

Protesters contended that the execution ought to have been postponed, pointing out that Carey’s terrible upbringing led to drug and alcohol misuse at an early age.

He had bipolar disorder as well.
