Expect snow to melt as temperatures rebound this Christmas
By the weekend, it will warm up to the lower 50s.
(FOX 2):Is a snowy Christmas in your dreams? This year, Mother Nature has a new stocking to fill. With highs of 36 degrees today, Christmas Eve, our little snow cover is slowly melting.
It will be more “frosty” than Frosty the Snowman outside, while a few obstinate spots of snow may still cling to grassy surfaces by morning.
The temperature drops to a cold 29 degrees tonight as Santa makes his rounds, and the sky are mostly clear, making it the ideal day for sleigh rides. In calm circumstances, the holiday lights will dazzle beautifully, and Rudolph won’t have much wind to contend with.
Instead of snow, there is a blanket of clouds on Christmas Day, and the temperature is just above 37 degrees. It’s a comfortable arrangement to enjoy home with family or outdoors for a vigorous holiday stroll, even though it won’t be the snow globe scene we all want.
As we look to the future, the weather abruptly shifts into spring fever. Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 40s by Thursday and Friday, and any remaining snow should be washed away by sporadic showers.
What about the weekend? The forecast decks the hallways with umbrellas rather than snow boots, and the temperature is in the low 50s.
Therefore, even though we might not get a traditional snowy Christmas, the weather is ideal for plans after the holiday. Enjoy the cozy festive atmosphere of metro Detroit while keeping an eye on the puddles!
