FATHER DIES After Being Shot in Store Robbery While Buying Food for Dogs, SON SAYS

Montgomery, Alabama – Alabama authorities are continuing to investigate a violent heist at a grocery store that killed three men this week.

One of the victims has been identified as George Elijah Jr.

His son, Mitchell “Holt” Elijah, claimed his father was in the Tienda Los Hermanos grocery shop on Tuesday evening, visiting with the proprietor and picking up some food for his dogs, when gunfire rang out.

According to Montgomery police, George Elijah, Daniel Lopez, and Ramiro Lopez, the store’s owner, were killed during the robbery that evening.

Holt Elijah claimed his father had stopped at the store numerous times before and was on the phone with his brother when the shooting began.

But when help arrived, the three guys had already been shot and were struggling for their lives. Holt Elijah stated that the store’s owner was a customer of his father’s credit card processing business.

He described the incident as a tragedy that has impacted not just his family, but also their close friends. “He was very involved with their family,” Holt Elijah said about his father and the Lopez family. Now, two families are trying to pick up the pieces and go on.

“I’m trying to keep his dream going, you know?” Holt Elijah spoke of his father. “He would not want me to sit here and complain about it. He just wanted me to always be successful.”

Alabama police stated they are actively looking for people involved in the fatal crime.

The Elijah family said they are ready to say goodbye to George Elijah, finishing funeral arrangements for a man who died too young. “George loved his family, especially Holt, more than anything,” Grayson Harris said on a GoFundMe page created for the Elijah family.

Central Alabama Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) involved in the Tuesday shooting.

“It has to stop. “People are taking unnecessary lives,” Holt Elijah said. “Over what? What is the purpose? There is no purpose. I just feel like there should be more love in the world.”
