Fears tragic dog who waited 4 days for drowned owner may ‘die of a broken heart’ after howling all night & refusing food

As it mourns for its owner who perished days ago, a heartbroken dog may pass away after wailing through the night and rejecting nourishment.

A dog who witnessed her owner disappear beneath the ice of the Afrofrozen Russian River is said to “die of desolation.”

Mongrel Belka stayed solemnly for four days close to the spot where her 59-year-old master Nikolai Khalanchuk disappeared into the 23-foot-deep Ufa River’s freezing waters.

On his bicycle, he had attempted a shortcut across the frozen river, but the ice was too thin and collapsed beneath him.

Belka observed fisherman at neighboring ice holes making frantic attempts to save her owner.

The rider was too chilly to grasp onto the pole that Nikolai’s nephew held out, and he continued to sink deeper and deeper into the abyss.

The local, Ruslan Ilyasov, stated: “His relative held out a pole to Nikolai, but he was so frozen that he was physically unable to grab it.”

Four days after the tragedy, Nikolai’s body was eventually discovered at the river’s bottom.

Loyal Belka remained vigilant on the ice or the adjacent shore during that period, refusing to give up hope.

According to the residents, she cried out for her owner all night long.

Nikoali’s family made multiple attempts to bring her home, but the dog kept going back to the location where she witnessed the tragedy.

The dog and her owner were inseparable, according to the locals.

Belka has now been brought home by Nikolai’s brother, who pledges to take care of the dog but worries that she won’t be able to get past witnessing her owner disappear into the river.

Sergei said to RT: I can’t even recall where Nikolai acquired her when he took her as a puppy.

But they were really in love.

She never left Nikolai’s side and really followed him.

She has spent her entire life with him.

“I’m not sure that I can replace Kolya [Nikolai], but I will bring Belka to my place,” he continued.

A local woman tried to provide food for the grieving dog, but Belka refused, and Sergei disclosed that the dog is still refusing to eat.

Belka was seen on camera watching and waiting calmly for her cherished owner to return.

“The female dog is very affectionate and doesn’t go anywhere,” the local woman said on a video that she took.

She refuses to eat the meal I brought.”

Many people don’t think the devoted canine will be able to forget her owner, according to AiFnewsoutlet.

They claim that she will continue to visit and that she will pass away from melancholy if she is chained up.

No animal is more devoted than a dog, an emergency responder told the local press.

Belka waited and believed for four days, but the dog’s eyes lost their hope.

However, she stayed devoted till the very end.

Unfortunately, seven years prior, Nikolai’s wife had perished in a boating accident on the same section of the Ufa River.

Despite spending hours in the icy water, Nikolai was saved on that particular occasion, but he was left a widower, and the farmworker’s companion was Belka, whom he had reared from a puppy.
