Final days before dealership shutters location for good – but certain cars will still be able to receive maintenance

Days remain before a large chain of dealerships permanently closes a well-liked outlet.

Customers will now have to travel up to 47 miles to purchase new cars from the site, which offers models from one of the most popular automakers in the country.

Gettel Automotive has decided to terminate one of its franchises after operating in western Florida since the 1990s.

On November 30, Gettel Lincoln, located at 2021 Tamiami Trail in Punta Gorda, will close for good.

The Lincoln brand, which functions as Ford’s premium division, had made the store a local mainstay.

It was one of 20 Gettel locations in Georgia and Florida that represented a total of 15 manufacturers.

Bill Finocchiaro, general manager of GettelToyotaCharlotte County, acknowledged the shutdown, but there is no notice of it on Gettel’s website.

Thankfully, Finocchiaro was also able to declare that every employee from the branch had secured positions elsewhere in the company.

We don’t know what will replace it,” he continued.

“Every salesperson and employee works in our other Gettel sites.

“They are fine.”

If you live in the opposite direction, Ed Howard Lincoln is located in Sarasota, which is a staggering 47 miles north.

Ales will be moved to Charlotte County in December, but they will still be accessible in Punta Gorda for the next several days.

The Toyota outlet will continue to offer some services to its current clientele.

“Aside from the warranty work, we can still perform service work for Lincolns,” Finocchiaro continued.

“We can do maintenance and sales.”
