Fire leaves owners of Auburn Cafe promising to rebuild

The Jefferson Avenue restaurant, which has been in Ecorse for over 40 years, had its inside torn apart by the fire on Dec. 10.

Of course, MI-The Auburn Cafe, located on Jefferson Ave. in Ecorse since the early 1990s, had its interior completely destroyed by fire on January 10.

The Auburn Cafe, which has been in the city for more than 44 years and in the same location for more than 30 years, is a favorite spot for many residents of Downriver.

The Auburn Cafe’s owner, Kosta Callis, stated that he plans to rebuild the establishment, which is almost as old as he is.

On Saturday morning, work to aid in the reconstruction had already begun.
