Florida Couple Charged in Alleged Ohio Speed Boat Scam
Todd Allen Lamb, 50, and Karen Nicole Lamb, 42, both from DeLand, Florida, are facing multiple felony charges related to an alleged speed boat scam. The couple, who were previously convicted in a separate theft case involving heavy machinery, were indicted by a Logan County grand jury in July 2024. They are accused of defrauding at least three Ohio residents out of over $650,000 and stealing two boat engines between December 2017 and December 2020.
According to the indictment, the Lambs accepted large payments to build custom power or racing boats, but the boats were never delivered. One victim alone reportedly lost over $300,000. Both Todd and Karen Lamb were charged with nine felony counts, including grand theft, aggravated theft, theft from a protected person, telecommunications fraud, defrauding creditors, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Todd Lamb, fitted with an ankle monitor, must stay at his mother’s home in West Liberty or his DeLand residence. Karen Lamb, meanwhile, was released on her own recognizance, with a condition to maintain her DeLand address. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges, as the legal proceedings continue in Logan County, Ohio.
