DETROIT (FOX 2):A battery problem that might cause the cars to stall is the reason behind the recall of over 272,000 Ford Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick pickup trucks.
The backstory
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has reported that the batteries in the Ford Bronco Sports and Mavericks from 2021–2023 may “experience internal weld and/or caston-strap failures.”
Ford stated that the 12V batteries in the impacted internal combustion vehicles—not electric vehicles—are the subject of this recall.
In the event that this occurs, the battery may abruptly degrade while driving. The recall bulletin states that if this happens while driving, the car may slow down or fail to resume after auto-stopping, which would raise the chance of an accident. Hazard lights may potentially stop working as a result of this.
According to the NHTSA, Ford was not aware of any collisions related to this problem as of Nov. 20, 2024.
