Forgotten Kansas City Chiefs star returns to practice and looks to take Travis Kelce’s starting spot
The injured tight end who will be returning to the Kansas City Chiefs could try to replace Travis Kelce.
Baylor Cupp, a rookie undrafted free agent, was observed at the Chiefs’ practice on Tuesday after being promoted to the team’s practice squad.
Many setbacks this season have left the 24-year-old Cupp forgotten.
He was put on the practice squad injured list at the end of September after joining Kansas City’s practice squad following 53-man roster cuts in the summer.
It was never revealed that Cupp had been injured.
Before the team could reactivate him to the practice squad, he had to miss at least four games due to the list.

Cupp made an impression as a blocker throughout the preseason.
He is anticipated to replace Peyton Hendershot, who sustained a calf injury during the Chiefs’ victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 12 and was placed on injured reserve.
The only healthy tight ends on Kansas City’s current roster are Kelce and Noah Gray.
It will be difficult for Cupp to take away snaps from nine-time Pro Bowler Kelce and even Gray if he is added to the 53-man roster.
In the past two games, the latter guy has scored four touchdowns overall.
In the previous game, Kelce recorded a team-high six receptions, so he wasn’t exactly bad.
Cupp has also not yet participated in an NFL game.
The Chiefs made a number of quick decisions, including adding Cupp to the practice squad.
A total of seven roster changes involving the practice squad and active roster were revealed.
Kansas City waived defensive end Cameron Thomas, signed kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad, added offensive tackle D.J. Humphries to the 53-man roster, and terminated the contracts of former third-round pick Lucas Niang and former undrafted free agent Truman Jones from the practice squad.
All of the actions open the door for defensive lineman Charles Omenihu to be activated from the Reserve/PUP list and for running back star Isiah Pachevo to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list.
The Chiefs have two open spaces waiting for Pacheco and Omenihu, since they currently have 51 of 53 spots available on the active roster.
Since their 21-day practice windows began prior to the Week 11 game against the Buffalo Bills, both players are in their third week of practice.

In a Black Friday game against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13, Pacheco and Omenihu might play.
The Chiefs are aiming for an NFL-best 11 victories.
